"Man of the Year"

I have become the new film critic for my college's newspaper. So I'll post my reviews for those of you who don't get this paper. They are well fun, piognant, and you might just learn something.

Review of "Man of they Year" (2006)

An acquaintance of mine said that this was the most educational movie she’d ever seen. Which proves that people will come right out and tell you how dumb they are. "Man of the Year" does just about that. Here Robin Williams plays Tom Dobbs, a more successful version of himself, or maybe what Bill Maher believes he actually was. Dobbs decides to run for president and wins, taking all 13 states that he is on the ballot for(the 13 most populous), and apparently none of the 37 other states where he could be a write-in.
If you’re still with me now, you’ll love this. Because the federal government is running the election (which is the job of the state), they have installed computerized voting machines. And they all have a fault, are you ready? The candidate with two B’s in his name (Dobbs) will always beat the candidate with two G’s in his name (Kellogg). Why....? Because B comes before G. Well now that makes sense.
About the time you figure out this is stupid, the sub-plot of Eleanor Green (Laura Linney), takes hold. She finds the computer glitch and suddenly this movie turns into "The Net." The evil corporation who manufactures the voting machines chases her all around the East coast, where apparently everything is just 5 minutes away, trying to catch her or kill her or something. Oh, and she and Dobbs fall in love while playing paintball.
This movie is bad, "Bicentennial Man" bad. If you like Robin Williams, as I do (to a point), go rent "The World According to Garp", or even "Popeye." By default I’ll give this movie one star for Christopher Walken.
